I just wanted to say thanks again for the training sessions at Conquest these last few weeks. I've learned a lot and had a lot of equine presumptions challenged, in the best way possible! And many thanks too for your help with the research during the second session.

Georgia and I would both like to say a huge thank you for today. Georgia had been a little exasperated that her pony didn't listen to her. She has come away from today with loads of positivity and confidence to move forward ( quite literally) with her mare. We would be very keen to come to any future such events if we can. Thank you both for all your hard work and the inspiration you have given Georgia and indie. And many thanks too for your help with the research during the second session.

I just wanted to say thank you both so much for a really wonderful day. Ebony and I are both shattered but really enjoyed our time spent with you both. Apart from a short trec training session earlier in the year we’ve not taken part in any other activities together, so just being in an arena with other horses is an experience for us both, let alone tackling the various obstacles. I rent a field on my own and Ebony lives out with a companion pony, so being in the stable was also an experience for her too! I have learnt so much and will continue to work on tuning in to my horses movements, stopping by just using my seat and getting her to stand on a long rein. I am really please with how Ebony coped with it all.

Woo hoo, fabulous ending to a great weekend! At the very last minute, 6pm yesterday evening I arranged to take Buddy to Horse Agility for the day. It is brilliant! You practice all morning and have the opportunity to familiarise your horse and yourself with obstacles, then after lunch there is an optional competition, so in effect Buddy & my first competition. OMG, Bud’s was amazing and we only went & came 2nd out of 7 with a score of 99 out of 110, being beaten by only 4 points!! I am over the moon!! Thank you Anna & Lotta Von Der Heyde. That was the icing on the cake after we had a slightly eventful ride out yesterday on our own. We started off at the mounting block, never done that on our own before! We rode through the fields, then went a different way to before ending back at the field. That’s when we heard the rattling, noisy tractor, which scared Buddy……but he was so so good. He listened to me & didn’ t run away. Although he was worried all the way back, he did what I asked & even managed a little canter. All in all I am so very proud of my little superstar!!

Just to say thankyou for all your help and support this morning at The Horse Agility at Hill Farm Equestrian. We had a rocky start with Ruby and I have to say I was all for quitting in the first half hour; I felt really bad for others in the group as Ruby was so agitated that her and I just couldn’t seem to tune in to each other!! – You were very patient and understanding and offered lots of helpful advice. We got there in the end albeit behind ~Saphies tail !! – it did get easier for her and I as the morning progressed, and I was so thrilled that we entered the competition, and we managed to complete it with Saphie just being in the vicinity rather than them being glued together. It was great, and I really did enjoy it – feeling very tired afterwards, and I expect Ruby feels even more tired than I do. What a lovely group of people and a perfect venue too.

Thank you again OMG, Bud’s was amazing and we only went & came 2nd out of 7 with a score of 99 out of 110, being beaten by only 4 points!! I am over the moon!! Thank you Anna & Lotta Von Der Heyde. I can definitely say that it is a lovely calm environment where you can do as much or as little as you want under the watchful eye of Lotta Von Der Heyde who comes from a behavioural rather than a ‘spook busting’ (or else…) perspective. so if educating your horse is high on your priority then i can recommend this. I’ve attended with my youngster to help him grow and understand this world. Last year I thought the competition would not be for us but in fact it was great as for me we learned about standing around patiently, me managing my own emotions, him leaving the group of his now best buddies and tonnes more.

Superb environment for my youngster. I love the way you support everyone giving them positive feedback… and I came home with a pretty rosette too!

Just a quick update, I may have mentioned that I was having some difficulties riding Ellie up the drive at home since she came back into work after the summer holidays. WELL I put everything you taught me at the horse agility into practise, I visualised, kept calm, took a deep breath and turned away from the situation any time it looked like one of us was getting tense and other times just to keep it interesting and she is now walking up the drive like a little star – I am so happy and I didn’t have to get cross once and just used quiet determination. I am sure she will think of something else to catch me out but I really do feel much better equipped to deal with it. When you are on a yard with lots of ‘traditional type’ people it’s quite difficult to do something different than the way they do it (I.e. not have a huge argument or battle) and now I have total confidence and faith to follow what I think is right and that’s thanks to you. I do hope we can come again to one of your next events.

I had such a great day Lotta, I really think you could help us tons, I would love it if you could keep an eye on our training and maybe have some regular sessions with you to help with the emotional control/calmness side of things :) It was the perfect outing for us and I’m chuffed to pieces how both of the horses coped and progressed throughout the day.

I met Lotta through a friend of mine, after recently buying a 16.3 Dutch Warm blood who was a bit of a hand full and not at all the horse I tried out before buying him. He wouldn’t stand still, the farrier classed him as dangerous to shoe and over all it was a nightmare!

Lotta was brilliant, she came as soon as she could to see us and was very positive we could fix the problem and helped me to understand what my horse was going through and why he was doing it.

Lotta also introduced me to Clicker training, I’m an experienced horse owner and a little bit of a sceptic when it comes to things like this, but I was willing to give it ago and boy did it pay off! My horse will now stand and fall asleep for the farrier, he stands still (most of the time!) and overall is a much calmer, happier horse, we have built up a brilliant relationship, and its all thanks to Lotta!

Hi Lotta, hope you are well. Thanks, again, for taking such good care of Emma during the play day training session at Ockham back in July and for arranging for her to borrow Beanie. It really gave her some confidence to do the HA and she’s just completed her first competition at starter level, scoring 92 which is really fantastic :-)
